IVF Add-ons: Are They Worth the IVF Cost in Delhi?

IVF Add-ons

If you have started looking into IVF, you have probably come across something called “IVF add-ons.” So, these are extra treatments or procedures that fertility clinics offer to potentially improve your chances of success. Sounds great, right? However, here’s the catch- not all add-ons are backed by solid scientific evidence, and some can be pretty expensive, which further skyrockets the overall IVF cost in Delhi

The real question now is, how do you know which treatments are worth considering and which might be a waste of money? Well, let’s break it down in a way that actually makes sense (because, let’s be real, IVF is already overwhelming enough).

What are IVF Add-Ons?

IVF add-ons are optional treatments or procedures that are offered alongside standard in-vitro fertilization to improve success rates. While clinics may suggest them, patients need to research and consult with their doctor to determine if the add-on is truly beneficial or simply an expensive, unproven extra.

What are the Most Talked-About IVF Add-Ons?

Some of the most suggested and talked-about IVF add-ons include:

1. Embryo Glue

Yes, it’s a real thing. Essentially this is a special solution that contains hyaluronan, a substance that’s supposed to help embryos “stick” better to the uterus. Some studies suggest that it might slightly improve implantation rates, while others show little to no benefit. The good news is as it is relatively inexpensive, if you need a low-cost add-on treatment for your IVF treatment, this one might be worth trying.

2. Assisted Hatching:

During the early stages, embryos are enclosed in a protective shell. Assisted hatching involves making a tiny hole in that shell to help the embryo implant more easily. It sounds promising, and it is especially true if you are trying to use IVF after a certain age or after previous failed IVF attempts. So, consult your options with this add-on before your doctor.

3. Endometrial Scratching:

This one sounds a bit scary, but it’s exactly what it sounds like- scratching the uterus lining to trigger a healing response that might make implantation more successful. If you have had multiple failed IVF cycles, your doctor might suggest it, but otherwise, it’s not a must-have.

4. Time Lapse Imaging:

This technology monitors embryo development continuously without disturbing them. It helps embryologists select the healthiest embryo for transfer.

5. Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT):

PGT screens embryos for genetic abnormalities before implantation, aiming to increase the chances of a healthy pregnancy. It’s particularly useful for older women, those with recurrent miscarriages, or known genetic disorders.

6. Immune Therapy:

Some clinics offer immune-related treatments like intralipid infusions or steroids to reduce inflammation in the uterus. The idea is that some women’s immune systems might reject an embryo, and this might lead to repeated implantation failures, which is why some doctors recommend immune therapy.
